Treatment of vascular lesions by VBeam Prima and VBeam Perfecta Pulsed Dye Laser
VBeam Perfecta represents the fifth generation of vascular lasers produced by company Syneron-Candela, specially designed for the removal of vascular lesions and taking leading position in the field of pulsed dye lasers worldwide. Pulsed dye lasers are considered to be the gold standard for removal of vascular lesions.
Era Esthetic laser dermatology clinic provides laser treatment by the use of the latest VBeam Perfecta model, which has applicators of various diameters, variable pulse width and duration, the DCD cooling system and a variety of therapeutic indications – this allows the treatment to be highly individual as well as selection of the most appropriate treatment options and effective solution to the problem carrying out safe and comfortable treatment.
Pulsed Dye Laser VBeam Prima and VBeam Perfecta
Vascular lesions occur when blood vessels on the surface of the skin become damaged or dilated. Both because of this and thinner connective tissue they are visible to the eye. Before the rise of laser surgery, there was no viable treatment, and it was not possible to help these patients. Currently, in majority of cases, the only effective way to remove vascular lesions or skin redness is laser treatment.
For removal of vascular lesions we use an advanced Pulsed Dye Laser VBeam Perfecta, which is most famous for its vast possibilities of application and is adapted for dealing with a wide range of problems. It not only removes the damaged blood vessels, has a dual “red” and “brown” skin effect, i.e., removes red and brown pigmentation, but also stimulates production of new collagen and elastic structures, and, therefore, strengthens the connective tissue, which is especially important in the treatment of diffuse redness, rosacea, visible facial capillaries as well as rejuvenation of the skin and removal of wrinkles in general.
Micro-Pulse Technology of Candela Medical VBeam Prima and VBeam Perfecta Pulsed Dye Lasers
VBeam Perfecta uses a micro-pulse technology which spreads a single high-energy laser pulse dividing it in 8 tiny micro-pulses. Short, intensive, but skin-friendly, unique yellow 595 nm light pulse beams generated by the laser are applied to accurately selected treatment areas of skin and penetrate the surface layer leaving it entirely unaffected. Such distribution of pulses is less traumatic and allows selection of a higher amount of energy needed to effectively remove vascular lesions, while protecting the skin and reducing post-treatment period. The option to choose even higher energy and to treat complex vascular lesions is also available. During the procedure, the light is selectively absorbed by oxyhemoglobin present in damaged or dilated blood vessels or melanin present in pigmented spots, depending on the skin condition being treated. By absorption of the light, vascular structures are coagulated and absorbed naturally during body’s natural healing processes. VBeam Perfecta can also be used to remove the pigment accumulated in brown spots.
Various vascular skin lesions that can be treated by VBeam Prima and VBeam Perfecta lasers:
- Various forms of rozacea, skin redness;
- Dilated capillary veins (telangiectasia), single or multiple spider veins;
- Facial and leg vascular plexuses, veins;
- Star and various other hemangiomas, angiomas;
- Port-wine stains and other congenital spots;
- Bruises.
Pigmented lesions of skin that can be removed:
- Pigmentation of red / brown color of various origins: face, neck, arms, chest redness; brown spots;
- Freckles; sun and age-related spots;
- Pigmented scars, acne scars, keloid scars;
- Skin stretch-marks;
- Poikiloderma (speckledor reddish-brown look of the skin).
Certain formations:
- Warts.
Stimulation of collagen:
- During causal treatment of diseases of vascular origin, e.g.: particularly effective for rosacea treatment;
- Skin rejuvenation, wrinkle correction;
- Applicable for treatment of certain acne forms;
How many procedures will I need?
It depends on a formation in question, time of its appearance and characteristics. Certain blood vessels, hemangiomas can be removed in a single session. The treatment of complex vascular lesions, long-term diffuse redness, congenital port-wine stains require several treatments.
How is the procedure carried out? Is the procedure painful?
You will be given goggles to protect your eyes. Appropriate laser treatment parameters will be selected and the applicator will be directed to the treatment area. During the procedure, you will feel warmth or a tingling sensation. In addition, the patented Candela Medical DCD cooling system is used in the course of the procedure which provides cooling before, during and after the pulse, thus, comfort during the procedure is enhanced and the skin is additionally protected, so, the redness is reduced to a minimum.
Are the results long-lasting?
Yes, the laser removes vascular lessons permanently, but it cannot affect genetic characteristics. Therefore, if a certain predisposition towards occurrence of particular conditions is present, factors provoking them should be avoided, measures to enhance skin condition taken, for example: in case of pigmentation – wear protective sunscreen, a hat; in case of rosacea – avoid impact of high and low temperatures as well as sharp differences between them, use cosmetics designed for skin prone to redness, and so on.
How should I prepare for the procedure?
Several weeks before and after the procedure it is recommended to avoid direct rays of the sun, use SPF 30 or higher sun protection factor. During the first few days after the procedure do not rub the skin, do not use agents irritating skin.
Treatment of rosacea and facial redness by VBeam Prima and VBeam Perfecta Pulsed Dye Lasers
Rozacea is a chronic, inflammatory, progressive disease which is externally visible on facial skin, causes psychological discomfort and is characterized by exacerbations and remissions. It generally begins after 30 years of age. In initial stages, it causes redness in areas of cheeks, nose, chin or forehead. In some cases, it can occur on neck, chest, scalp skin or ear-zone. Over time, the redness intensifies and becomes permanent; facial blood vessels also start showing up and become visible. Without treatement, rozacea gradually progresses and becomes difficult to control. When factors contributing to its development are present, pink papules, pimples, pustules appear, and, in some cases, under the influence of overgrowth of sebaceous glands and connective tissue, during inflammatory process, the skin of the nose becomes rough, red and papules develop, which causes the nose to take on a swollen appearance.
It is highly important to diagnose rosacea and start to treat it. Treatment with medication is required to control the disease and reduce the inflammatory symptoms, but it has an insignificant effect on redness and dilated blood vessels. For this, pulsed dye laser VBeam Perfecta is used, which essentially reduces and eliminates the problematic redness caused by rosacea. The technology used in this laser is considered to be the most effective for treatment of rosacea-specific permanent or flaring redness, dilated capillaries accompanying it, as well as for treatment of other vascular lesions. The target of VBeam Perfecta laser is both visible blood vessels and the smallest dilated capillaries, which cause widespread redness and skin “burning” sensation characteristic of rosacea. It removes a wide range of superficial vascular network associated with redness, thus impeding further progression of the disease and reduces inflammation, when characteristic of certain stages of rosacea inflammatory conditions occur. This way, VBeam Perfecta significantly improves the skin’s structure and structure-related looks of the skin.
The number of procedures depends on the seriousness of the damage caused by the disease: dilated capillaries are removed within 1-2 procedures; reduction of widespread redness and remission of the disease is achieved after 2-4 procedures, with improvement in skin condition after each of them.
